Surcharged Manhole Cleared and Long Term Fix Advised on Venice Avenue, Burnley
A surcharged manhole at the side of a Burnley property that has had problems before. We rodded it, then jetted it to clear the blockage.
The CCTV survey showed multiple defects and three junctions in the line, so we were straight with the customer: it has blocked before and it will block again.
The proper fix is a new change of direction manhole at 10 metres, and replacing the 10 metre run back to the existing manhole. The first 1.5 metres is concrete, then grass, starting about 400mm deep and falling away. We recommended having it done within the next 4 to 6 weeks.
